Letter by Sarah: What it Means to be Legendary

Volume I | Issue II | Letter I | Autumn MMXXV | words: Sarah Woods

We can look to the extraordinary salmon run for a reality check: returning to our source of creation is the only thing that will ensure our survival as humans. What it means to be legendary, has nothing to do with what you create, and everything to do with the foundation in which you create from.

Autumnal colours on the west coast of Canada signal an extraordinary event, the salmon run. Each year, salmon return to spawn where they were hatched. It was a treasured family field trip for me growing up. Returning to an old-growth temperate forest, we would stand among 600-year old Douglas Fir trees at Goldstream River, to witness the pilgrimage from the Saanich Inlet.

A return to source, for creation.

As a child, I was in awe that the salmon remembered exactly where they were hatched. My Mom assured me that the nature of their being inherently knew. Faced with the reality of their final voyage, I witnessed predators, obstacles and the physical toll on the salmon. All, for the survival of their species.

As an adult, I can relate to the journey. I’ve never forgotten where I came from. And, I’ve been relentlessly dedicated to my role as an ambassador of that home – the heart.

Sometimes this has meant great difficulty. I have been swimming upstream while the mainstream appears to diverge further and further away from infinite intelligence. There have been predators, rainy days and (quantum) jumps. Regardless of any turbulent waters, I’ve always remembered who I am, a healthy authority of heart.

Society has normalized giving our power away to other. Whether to an “expert,” an organization, or the device in our hands, there’s an apparent convenience in outsourcing that comes at a great expense. It means many are being severed from their inherent connection to heart intelligence and from the answers they’re looking for. Not only answers, but their source.

As we create over the next decade, what will determine a positive future has nothing to do with our creations and everything to do with the foundation in which we are materializing life on earth. The new foundation is the change, a return to our source, to bring love back to the planet. An expression of love. A creation that doesn’t source from distortions, wounds or emotions.

The heart, soft as water, fierce as truth, is what it means to be legendary. A grand invitation from the wise West Coast salmon, that we have no other choice but to return to heart, for the human to survive these times.

avec amour, Sarah
